Angels Send Joel Pineiro To Mound In Finale In Oakland

The Angels look for a series split Sunday afternoon in Oakland, facing the Athletics at Overstock.com Coliseum. Joel Pineiro gets the start for the Angels, facing Gio Gonzalez for the A's. These two clubs split a doubleheader on Saturday.

Pineiro has won each of his last two starts, and hasn't lost since June 5. During that span of six starts, Pineiro has a rather ordinary 4.10 ERA, but the Angels have scored 42 runs of support and have won all six contests. On the season, Pineiro is 5-3 with a 3.90 ERA. He has started twice this season against the A's, allowing seven runs in 13 1/3 innings, and the Angels have lost both games.

Today is 1980s day in Oakland, with the first 15,000 fans in attendance receiving an MC Hammer bobblehead doll. Hammer will also throw out the first pitch before today's game. The Angels are 5-7 against the A's this season, including 1-4 in Oakland. The Angels have lost 10 of their last 15 games in Oakland.
