NCAA Baseball Tournament: Trevor Bauer Strikes Out 14 As UCLA Stays Alive

Trevor Bauer struck out 14 in nine innings, leading the UCLA Bruins to a 3-1 win over the Fresno St. Bulldogs in an elimination game to stay alive in the 2011 NCAA Baseball Tournament on Saturday at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Bauer allowed one run on six hits and two walks, picking up his 13th win of the season. The loss eliminated Fresno St. from the tournament.

UCLA scored in the first inning on an RBI single by Cody Keefer, then added another run in the fourth to go up 2-0. Pat Hutcheson led off the top of the sixth inning with a double for Fresno State, then scored on a single by Danny Muno. Trevor Brown added an RBI single in the seventh for UCLA for the game's final tally. Bauer's 14 strikeouts gave him 203 on the season, setting a new Pac-10 season record.

UCLA will play at 2 p.m. on Sunday, against the loser of tonight's game between UC Irvine and San Francisco. The winner of tomorrow's 2 p.m. game will play the winner of tonight's game on Sunday at 6 p.m. PDT.
