Angels Return Home To Face Nationals

The Angels won all four series on their four corners road trip two games to one, and return home Monday night to face the Washington Nationals. Ervin Santana gets the start for the Angels, looking to improve on his 3-8 record, which is not representative of how well he has pitched this season. John Lannan gets the start for the Nationals

Santana is 3-8 this season, but is ERA is just 4.22. He has lost all four starts in June despite a 3.86 ERA, thanks in part to seven runs of support. He has allowed two runs in 14 innings in two starts against National League teams this season.

Davey Johnson makes Nationals managerial debut tonight. The 68-year old Johnson, who last managed in 2000 with he Dodgers, was named manager on Sunday, three days after Jim Riggleman abruptly resigned. The Angels are 8-4 against the National League this season. The Nationals have brought their presidential mascots to Anaheim, and the quartet will race on the field at Angels Stadium during all three games of this series.
