Angels Continue Road Trip Facing Reeling Marlins, Now Under Trader Jack

The Angels have started their season-long 12-game road trip with a pair of series wins, in Seattle and New York, and look for more of the same on Monday facing the reeling Marlins in Miami. Jered Weaver gets the start for the Angels, looking for his ninth win of the season. Anibal Sanchez gets the call for the Marlins.

Weaver is 8-4 with a 2.06 ERA so far this season, and threw a shutout in his last start, his second shutout of the season. Weaver also threw 128 pitches, which tied his season high, in that outing in Seattle on Tuesday. Perhaps that extra day of rest will serve Weaver well this evening.

Sanchez is 6-1 with a 3.02 ERA this season for the Marlins. Florida has been in free fall mode this month, losing 18 of 19 games. Manager Edwin Rodriguez resigned on Sunday, and 80-year old Jack McKeon was named interim manager on Monday. McKeon led Florida to the 2003 World Series title.

The Angels haven't played the Marlins since taking two of three against them in Anaheim in 2005. Since 2000, the Angels are 123-81 in interleague play, tied with Boston for the best mark in baseball. They have the best all-time interleague road record, at 72-55.

Tonight's 4:10 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Fox Sports West. For more news and information on the Angels, or on tonight's game, be sure to read the SB Nation blog Halos Heaven.
