When the US National Team and the Jamaican Nation Team met in Washington DC on Saturday, the Galaxy knew they’d get one of their two starters back. With the USMNT winning 2-0, they now know that they’ll have Donovan Ricketts back for their match in San Jose on Saturday, but they’ll have to wait for Tuesday’s result in Houston to know if they’ll have Landon Donovan back. The USMNT faces Panama in the semi-finals after Panama defeated El Salvador on penalties.
↵It was known at the start of the Gold Cup tournament that if the USMNT made it all the way to the final, the Galaxy would be without Landon Donovan for the entire month of June. The team managed draws in their first two matches at Home Depot Center, then yesterday managed a 1-3 victory on the road without David Beckham. Todd Dunnivant was named the third Galaxy captain of the year.
↵The match in San Jose will be the Fox Soccer Night in America match of the week. After that match the Galaxy return to Home Depot Center July 4th to take on the Seattle Sounders with a fireworks presentation afterward. The club will also unveil their third kit at that Monday game.
