LA Galaxy Travel To Colorado To Battle Rapids

The immovable object meets the other immovable object as the Los Angeles Galaxy (8-2-7, 31 pts) and Colorado Rapids (5-3-7, 22pts), two teams riding long unbeaten streaks coming into this matchup, meet at Dick's Sporting Goods Park tonight. Last week, Colorado's 0-1 victory over Portland ended their league record run of draws, and extended their unbeaten streak to nine. Meanwhile, the Galaxy had a win taken from them with a late equalizer from Alan Gordon. The 2-2 draw extended the Galaxy's unbeaten streak to eight.

Colorado is banged up at the moment, with five players (Jamie Smith, Matt Pickens, Quincy Amarikwa, Joseph Nane, Omar Cummings) listed as probably with various injuries. The only question mark for the Galaxy is Juninho, who is still listed as questionable with a left ankle sprain. It wouldn't be shocking if Bruce Arena told Juninho to rest up and didn't take him with the traveling squad. Colorado midfielder Brian Mullan, who has started five games this year will serve out a suspension. David Beckham will have to play careful, because he's suspended with his next yellow card. Landon Donovan and Donovan Ricketts are preparing to face each other in the Gold Cup quarterfinals tomorrow.

This is the first meeting between the two clubs this year, with the return match scheduled for September. The road team won each of the two matches between the clubs last year. The Galaxy's win in Denver last year was their first since 2002, while the Rapids have defeated the Galaxy at Home Depot Center each of their last two trips.
