Angels Travel To New York To Face Mets In Inter-League Series

In a road trip dubbed "the Four Corners Tour", the Angels (33-37) travel to New York to play the Mets (34-35) in a 3-game inter-league match-up.  The 12-game road trip finds the Angels playing games in each of the four quadrants of the U.S. - they concluded 3-games in Seattle on Wednesday, will spend the weekend in New York playing the Mets, travel to Miami for 3 games with the national league Marlins Monday-Wednesday before concluding the 8000 mile trip in Los Angeles against the cross-town Dodgers next weekend.

Joel Pineiro, making his seventh attempt at his 100th career win, will open the New York series Friday night.  Pineiro (2-3, 4.03 ERA) has allowed 4 earned run in each of his last 5 starts, and has lost his last three decisions.  The ground balling right-hander looks to get back into the wins column against a team he has gone 3-0 with a 4.15 ERA in six starts during his career.

The Mets will send Chris Capuano (5-6, 4.40 ERA) to face the visiting Halos.  The left-hander  was signed as a free agent by the Mets this past off-season having spent his 5 seasons in Milwaukee.  In his last start, Capuano shutout the Pirates over 7 innings, giving up just 3 hits.
