Angels Look To End Red Sox Domination

On Wednesday night, the Angels will play the Boston Red Sox for the seventh time this season.  In the six previous matchups, the Angels (16-14) have been outscored 32-13 while dropping each game.  Dating back to last season, the Angels have lost 15 of the last 16 games against the Sox.

The Angels hopes for a different outcome will rest with right-hander Ervin Santana (1-3, 4.89 ERA).  Santana lost to Boston in their last meeting on April 23, giving up 5 runs and nine hits over 7 innings.  He did strike out a season high 9 batters in that game, but got the loss when Daisuke Matsuzaka and Daniel Bard combined to two-hit the Halos.

Looking to keep the Red Sox streak alive, right-hander Josh Beckett will get the start at Fenway.  Beckett (2-1, 2.65 ERA) is the only Red Sox starter not to be credited with a win against Los Angeles.  In his last start against the Angels, Beckett went 8 innings, allowing only 2 runs on 3 hits in an extra inning win.
