The Dodgers look for a series win in Houston on getaway day Wednesday against the Astros, as Ted Lilly faces Aneury Rodriguez at Minute Maid Park. The Dodgers snapped a three-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 5-4 win, propelled by rookies Jerry Sands, Rubby De La Rosa, and Javy Guerra. The Dodgers have lost six out of their last seven three-game series, and are just 8-14 in May.
Andre Ethier has been out of the starting lineup in each of the last two games after suffering multiple injuries running into the right field wall in Chicago on Sunday. He has pinch hit in each of the first two games of this series, collecting an RBI single Monday night and an intentional walk on Tuesday. Catcher Rod Barajas, who sprained his right wrist Sunday, has missed the last two games and is expected to miss today as well, using Thursday's off day to give the backstop four full days off.
Lilly is 7-2 with a 2.36 ERA in 13 career starts against the Astros. It's the lowest ERA Lilly has against any team in his career. Lilly is 3-4 this season with a 4.71 ERA in 10 starts, but he also has a streak of 22 straight starts with two or fewer walks. He allowed three runs in seven innings in his last start on Friday against the White Sox.
Rodriguez is a rookie making his fifth career start. The 23-year old Dominican, who started the season in the bullpen for Houston, is 0-2 with a 5.72 ERA this year. He has not pitched longer than 5 1/3 innings in any of his four starts.
