Jered Weaver Looks For First May Win As Angels Face Texas Friday Night

The Angels (21-17) travel to Arlington Texas for the second time in 2011 to face the Rangers (19-18) in a 3-game weekend series.  The Angels, who lead the AL in hitting (.270), start a 7-game road trip featuring games against each of the Angels' AL West opponents, two of which are just 1.5 games behind the division leading Halos.

Friday's series opener will see right-hander Jered Weaver taking the hill for Los Angeles.  Weaver (6-2, 1.87 ERA) has lost his previous two starts after starting the season with 6 straight wins.  In his start against Texas on April 20th, Weaver pitched a complete game, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking none.  During Weaver's last start on May 7th, he went 6 innings against Cleveland in Anaheim.  In that start, the 2010's AL Strikeout leader did not strikeout a batter.  The last time that happened was June 10, 2077, a span of one hundred and twenty-two starts.

Getting the start for the Rangers will be Alexi Ogando (3-0, 2.17 ERA).  The right-hander is making his first start since developing a blister on his index finger that caused him to skip his scheduled start last Sunday.
