Angels starter Dan Haren looks to get back to winning Wednesday afternoon against the Oakland A's. Haren (4-1, 1.46 ERA) had won his first four decisions of the season before losing last Friday to Boston due to a lack of run support from the Angel offense. Allowing 2 earned runs over 6 innings, the right-hander struck out 6 and walked 3 in the 4-3 loss. For the season Haren has gone 37 innings and allowed just 23 hits, while striking out 33.
The Angels (14-10) are finishing up their 7-game home stand before heading to Tampa for three games and then Boston for another 4-game set against the Red Sox. Although the Halos lost 4 straight to Boston over the weekend, they have won 9 of their last 15 including the first two games of this 3-game series against Oakland. The Angels are a half game behind division leading Texas and 3 games ahead of the third-place A's.
Oakland (11-12) will send right-hander Tyson Ross to the mound. Ross is making his second start for injured Dallas Braden. In his first start, Ross took the loss when he gave up 3 runs to the Seattle Mariners. In that game, Ross lasted 4.1 innings, surrendering 4 hits, but also walking four.
