Billingsley, Dodgers Seek To Avoid Sweep In Florida

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Florida Marlins, in Wednesday's series finale in Miami. Today's early start, 9:10 a.m. PDT, features Chad Billingsley starting for the Dodgers and Anibal Sanchez starting for Florida. The Dodgers have lost two straight games after winning six of eight games.

Billingsley has already made three daytime starts this season, and in his last two outings he has allowed one earned run in 14 1/3 innings. Billingsley has made two starts in Florida in his career, back in 2006 and 2008, winning both games. Sanchez is 1-1 with a 3.55 ERA for Florida, and is coming off of a one-hitter against Colorado, in which he didn't allow a hit until the ninth inning.

Today's game is the 20th game in 20 days for the Dodgers, who have Thursday off before beginning a homestand. Andre Ethier has a 23-game hitting streak, the longest in MLB this season and the longest April hitting streak in MLB history. The Marlins on the first eight games of their homestand have a collective 2.14 ERA.
