Angels' right-hander Jered Weaver will try to become baseball's first five-game winner Wednesday night against the Texas Rangers (11-6) in Arlington. Weaver (4-0, 1.30 ERA), in his 4 starts this season, has allowed just four runs on 13 hits in 27.2 innings and once again is leading the league with 31 strikeouts.
A win tonight for Weaver would not only give him 5 straight, it'd move the Angels into sole possession of first-place of the AL West division as they head home. The Angels have won 6 of their last seven, while Texas has dropped 5 of seven, losing for the first time in 2011 on Tuesday by the score of 15-4.
In the final game of the 3-game set, the Halos will face lefty Matt Harrison (3-0, 1.23 ERA). Harrison has been just as good as Weaver this season, as he's allowed just 3 earned runs on 14 hits in 22 innings. In his last start, Harrison got the win in New York went by going 8 innings and allowing just 2 runs to the Yankees.
