The Los Angeles Angels look to continue their winning ways in the opener of a three-game series between first place teams in the American League West. The Angels will send Ervin Santana to the mound in Arlington to face the Texas Rangers. The Angels have won five straight and nine of their last 11 games.
Both the Angels and Rangers have ridden great starting pitching to a 10-5 record this season. Angels' starters have a 2.86 ERA and have averaged 6.51 innings per start, while Texas starters have a 2.93 ERA while averaging 6.36 innings per outing. The Angels have had 12 quality starts in 15 games, including three by Santana in his three starts.
Santana is 0-1 with a 3.74 ERA in the early going. C.J. Wilson starts for the Rangers, who have lost four of their last five games. Wilson is 1-0 with a 3.72 ERA this season. Tonight's 5:05 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Fox Sports West.
