Angels Head To Chicago Where Weaver Looks To Stay Perfect

The Angels (7-5) head back out on the road after a successful home stand that saw the club go 4-2 against Toronto and Cleveland.  The home stand also saw the emergence of possibly the best 1-2 punch in the AL as Dan Haren and Jered Weaver combined to go 3-0 allowing just 5 hits, 6 walks while striking out 24 batters in 17.2 innings.  The co-aces dominated in their two starts and one relief appearance posting a 0.51 ERA at home.

The Angels travel to Chicago where Weaver (3-0, 0.87 ERA) will get the first start of the 6-game road trip.  Weaver, looking to win his 4th straight start of 2011, is 3-1 with a 1.73 ERA against the Sox in Chicago, but the right-hander lost both of his starts last season. He is 4-2 with a 1.70 ERA in his career versus the pale hose.  In his last start, Weaver had a career high 15 strikeouts in a 3-1 win over the Blue Jays.  On the season Weaver, who led the AL in strikeouts in 2010, has struck out 27 in 20.2 innings.

The Halos, 2 games behind division-leading Texas, seek their 7th win in 9 games, and third in-a-row, but have lost 7 straight to Chicago.

The White Sox (7-5) will send Phil Humber to the mound.  Humber, filling in for injured Jake Peavy, is making his second start for Chicago and fourth overall.  The 28 year-old won at home against Tampa last Saturday when he went 6 innings giving up 4 hits and one run while striking out 4 and walking 2.  The only time Humber has faced the Angels was a relief appearance last season while with the Royals.  In that game, he pitched 2 scoreless innings, giving up a single to Howie Kendrick and a double to Peter Bourjos.

The weather forecast for game time calls for high wind and a 80% chance of rain.  Game time is 5:10 (Pacific) and will be shown on FSW.
