NCAA Tournament: UConn Defeats Arizona In West Regional Final 65-63, Advances To Final Four

After surprising the college basketball world by crushing Duke on Thursday 93-77, the fifth-seeded Arizona Wildcats (30-8) looked to continue their run by defeating the third-seeded UConn Huskies (30-9) at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

The Huskies, however, had different plans as they defeat the Wildcats in a wild second half seesaw affair that ultimately favored the Huskies, defeating Arizona 65-63 and advancing to the Final Four.

UConn had a six-point lead on Arizona by halftime. In the second half, the Huskies led the game as much as nine points before a 12-2 run by Arizona put the Wildcats ahead with 7:16 left to go. A couple of turnovers and missed baskets by the Wildcats led to their demise as the Huskies took advantage of their mistakes.

The Huskies were led by guard Kemba Walker, who led UConn in scoring with 20 points and made a crucial basket in the closing minutes in the game.

Arizona was led by forward Derrick Williams, who equaled Walker’s points total with 20.
