Sweet 16, Duke Vs. Arizona: Game Preview, Game Time, TV, Lineups, Etc

The Sweet 16 kicks off tonight at the Honda Center in Anaheim. While the first game (SDSU vs. UConn) features arguably the best matchup so far of the NCAA Tournament, the night game features quite a matchup of its own. Two of the top college basketball programs of the past 25 years face off in the late game, as the Duke Blue Devils face the Arizona Wildcats for the right to advance in the bracket to the West Regional Final.  Here are the relevant details of tonight's game:

  • Combatants: Duke (32-4); Arizona (29-7)
  • Seeds: No. 1 Duke, No. 5 Arizona
  • Tip-Off: 6:45 p.m. PDT
  • TV: CBS; Verne Lundquist, Bill Raftery, and Leslie Visser are on the call.
  • Common Opponent: Arizona beat NC State 72-62 on December 19; Duke beat the Wolfpack twice, 92-78 on January 18 and 76-52 on February 5.
  • History: This is the eighth meeting between these schools, with Duke holding a 4-3 advantage. Their last meeting was in the 2001 National Championship Game, won by Duke 82-72
