The 36th annual Big West Basketball Tournament begins today at Honda Center in Anaheim. Eight of the nine teams in the conference qualified for the tournament, with only UC Davis on the outside looking in. The top seed is Long Beach State, who had a four-game lead over everyone else in the conference. Here is an overview of today's schedule (all times PST):
12 p.m.: No. 1 Long Beach St. (20-10, 14-2) vs. No. 8 UC Irvine (13-18, 6-10)
The top-seeded 49ers have won nine straight games.
2:30 p.m.: No. 4 Pacific (16-14, 8-8) vs. No. 5 UC Santa Barbara (15-13, 8-8)
UCSB won the tournament last season, advancing to their first NCAA Tournament since 2001-2002.
6 p.m.: No. 2 Cal Poly (15-14, 10-6) vs. No. 7 UC Riverside (11-18, 6-10)
8:30 p.m.: No. 3 Cal State Northridge (13-17, 9-7) vs. No. 6 Cal State Fullerton (11-19, 7-9)
