NBA All-Star Weekend: James Jones Beats Two Celtics To Win Three-Point Shootout

James Jones of the Miami Heat made the Staples Center crown happy, mostly because he wasn't wearing the green of the hated Boston Celtics. Jones scored 20 points in the final round to outlast both Paul Pierce and Ray Allen of the Boston Celtics, to win the 2011 Foot Locker NBA Three-Point Shootout. Jones is the fourth player from Miami to win the contest, joining Glen Rice (1995), Jason Kapono (2007), and Daequan Cook (2009).

Allen, the all-time NBA leader in three-point field goals made and 2001 winner of the three-point contest, led all shooters in the first round with 20 points. Jones had 16. It looked like Dorell Wright of the Warriors was going to be the third competitor in the final round, with 11 points, but Pierce, the defending champion, hit his final shot, the two-point money ball, to pass Wright with 12 first-round points.
