Long Beach State vs. Kansas Score: 49ers Hang With Jayhawks, Fall Short 88-80

The odds were stacked against the Long Beach St. 49ers on Tuesday night as they traveled to take on the No. 13 Kansas Jayhawks, and despite taking the 88-80 loss, the team still managed to hold their own. A late second half rally made things interesting in the final minutes, but the Niners were unable to overcome an early deficit at Phog Allen Field House.

T.J. Robinson led the way offensively for LBSU, scoring 19 points and hauling in seven rebounds against a tough KU defense. Casper Ware struggled shooting the ball, but still managed to score 16 points, as did James Ennis. Larry Anderson scored 14 and dished out seven assists on the night, which led the 49ers.

Kansas used their size advantage to defeat Long Beach St. and both Jeff Withey (13 points, 13 rebounds) and Thomas Robinson (26 points, 11 rebounds) recorded double-doubles. All three of the KU guards scored in double figures, with Conner Teahan hitting four 3's.

The 49ers will continue their treacherous stretch of games on Saturday when they face the North Carolina Tar Heels.
