The Pepperdine Waves hosted the St. Mary's Gaels on Saturday evening in WCC play. The 7-6 Waves came up on the losing end in a lopsided 74-45 loss, falling to 1-1 in conference play and 7-6 overall.
The Gaels, meanwhile, improved to 2-0 in WCC play to go along with their 13-2 records. They opened up a 35-18 lead in the first half and piled on another 39 points in the second. Guard Jordan Baker led all Pepperdine scorers with 14 points, also picking up two rebounds. Forward Taylor Darby contributed another 10 points and three rebounds for the Waves. Center Corbin Moore had nine rebounds and six points.
Matthew Dellavedova, a guard from St. Mary's, led all scorers with 16 points, also picking up four assists and two rebounds.
Pepperdine will play their next game on Thursday, January 5 when they travel to Spokane, Washington, to take on the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
