My foray into college football bowl picking got off to a disastrous start on Saturday, as all three of my picks went down to defeat. Luckily there are 32 bowl games remaining for me to redeem myself, beginning with the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl on Tuesday night. Here are the Tuesday particulars.
Teams: Florida International Golden Panthers (8-4, 5-3 in the Sun Belt Conference); Marshall Thundering Herd (6-6, 5-3 in Conference USA)
Location: Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida
Time: 5 p.m.
TV: ESPN and ESPN3.com, with Mike Patrick and Jeannine Edwards on the call
Radio: ESPN Radio, with Rob Stone and Danny Kanell on the call
Players to Watch: Kedrick Rhodes ran for 1,121 yards and eight touchdowns for Florida International, averaging 5.0 yards per carry; junior wide receiver Aaron Dobson found his way to the end zone 10 times in 12 games for Marshall
Point Spread: Florida International is favored by 4.5 points, per Odds Shark.
The Pick: I like Florida International's offense too much. In addition to Rhodes, they also boast wide receiver T.Y. Hilton, who caught 64 passes for 950 yards and seven scores. I'll take Florida International and give the points.
