Saturday TV Schedule: College Football Bowls Begin

The 2011 college football bowl season gets underway on Saturday, providing the highlight of Saturday's sports television schedule. The New Mexico Bowl is the first bowl game of the season, but the day also gives us a pair of college basketball home games and two NHL hockey road games. Here is the full Saturday TV schedule:

11 a.m. - Gildan New Mexico Bowl, Temple Owls vs. Wyoming Cowboys (ESPN): The bowls begin with a bowl that was supposed to have a Pac-12 tie-in but thanks to Stanford giving the conference two teams in BCS bowls and USC being ineligible for postseason play, Temple was picked as the at-large team to face their Mountain West Conference foe.

12 p.m. - UC Davis Aggies at UCLA Bruins (Prime Ticket): The UCLA basketball team (4-5) can get one step closer to .500 with a win at Honda Center on Saturday afternoon.

2:30 p.m. - Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, Ohio Bobcats vs. Utah State Aggies (ESPN): Utah State is a 1.5-point favorite in the fantastically-named bowl, per Odds Shark. This game will be on the blue turf of Turf of Bronco Stadium, home of Boise State.

4 p.m. - Los Angeles Kings at Detroit Red Wings (Fox Sports West, NHL Network): The Kings look for their second straight win in the third game of a four-game road swing.

4 p.m. - Anaheim Ducks at Winnipeg Jets (KDOC): The Ducks have lost 10 straight road games, but to snap that losing streak they need to win on the second night of a back-to-back set.

6 p.m. - R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, San Diego State Aztecs vs. Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (ESPN): The Aztecs are favored by four points according to Odds Shark.

7 p.m. - Georgia Bulldogs at USC Trojans (Prime Ticket): After scoring just 81 total points in their last two games, both losses, USC looks to get back on track at Galen Center Saturday night against their SEC foe.
