76 Classic Consolation Bracket: Boston College Tops UC Riverside 66-62 In Overtime

The UC Riverside Highlanders nearly pulled off an upset on Saturday but ultimately fell just short, losing in overtime 66-62 to the Boston College Eagles on Saturday afternoon in the consolation bracket of the 76 Classic Tournament at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The Highlanders were down six points with a minute left in regulation but hit a pair of three-pointers to tie the score. Gabriel Moton tipped in an apparent game-winner for Boston College at the buzzer, but the shot was waived off after review. Guard Patrick Heckmann led Boston college with 33 points, making nine of his 13 field goals and all 10 free throw attempts.

Guard Phil Martin led the Highlanders with 22 points and seven rebounds, though he also had seven turnovers. UC Riverside outrebounded Boston College 31-27 in defeat.

Boston College will battle the winner of New Mexico vs. Washington State Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. PST on ESPNU. UC Riverside will play the loser of New Mexico vs. Washington State Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. PST.
