As I'm sure you're all painfully aware, Los Angeles does not currently have a professional football team. Current events seem to indicate that will probably be changing within the next couple of years, but for now, here we are: a major market without a major team.
But that doesn't mean you can't keep abreast of the odds on the other California teams that are playing this week! Let's break out our state pride and check out how things are shaping up for both the San Francisco 49ers and the San Diego Chargers heading into Week 8.
Our good friends over at OddsShark have the 49ers as pretty steady favorites as they return from their bye week to host the Cleveland Browns. The line opened with the Niners favored by 9.5, and they are currently favored at anywhere from 7.5 to 9.5. The average line on them looks to be a nine point spread, so they're heavy favorites regardless of who is giving odds. The over/under for the game is currently 38.5 across the board. The Browns only managed to score six points last week -- in a win over the Seattle Seahawks -- so keep in mind that they can't be counted on to hold up their end of the points total.
Switching to something a bit more local, the San Diego Chargers are heading to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs for Monday Night Football on Halloween, and this game figures to be a bit closer. On paper, anyway. The Chargers are slim 3.5 point favorites for the most part, but Bodog is favoring the Chargers at a whopping 4 points. Both of these teams have a more reliable offense than the Browns, so the over/under on this one is set at 43.5 to 44. This is definitely the harder of the two games to pin down, as both the Chargers and the Chiefs have a knack for under-performing...sometimes spectacularly.
