Vin Scully A Fan Of The Naked Gun

Broadcast legend Vin Scully is a very humble and private man, so every time he talks about himself and his illustrious career, it's a big deal. David Brown of Yahoo! Sports caught up with Scully recently at Petco Park in San Diego, and the interview offers a wonderful glimpse into Scully. My favorite passage, in addition to learning that Scully has accumulated over 3.5 million frequent flier miles, is this:

DB: Did they ask you to be in the "Naked Gun" movie scene with all of the broadcasters?

↵

VS: No, they didn't. But I laughed my sides off at it. I was not asked to be in it and I don't feel rejected [laughs] in any way. It was an Angels game at Dodger Stadium, so [laughs].

The baseball scene in Naked Gun is one of the funniest things ever recorded on film, so just knowing that Scully loved it, too, is very satisfying.

You can listen to full audio of Brown's interview with Scully in several parts: I, II, III, IV, and V.
