Peter O'Malley Says Frank McCourt Should Sell Dodgers

For years, the O'Malley family owned the Los Angeles Dodgers. In 2004, Frank McCourt purchased the team from Fox who had purchased the team from the O'Malley family.

Now, the Associated Press reports, Peter O'Malley has called on McCourt to sell the team because O'Malley believes McCourt doesn't understand "the importance of the Dodgers in this city."

Peter O'Malley, whose family owned the Dodgers for 47 years, has called upon Frank McCourt to sell the team, saying "the current Dodger ownership has lost all credibility throughout the city."

O'Malley, 72, has remained largely silent during the divorce between McCourt and his estranged wife, Jamie, but told The Los Angeles Times that "the organization cries out for stability at this time."

"For many years, the Dodgers have been one of the most prestigious institutions in our city and throughout professional sports," O'Malley said. "Sadly, that is not the case today."
