Angels Fall In Ninth Inning, 3-2 To Indians

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) – Alberto Callaspo bobbled a grounder off the bat of pinch-hitter Shelley Duncan to allow the game-winning run to cross the plate in the bottom of the 11th inning, as the Cleveland Indians edged the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, 3-2, in the rubber match of a three-game series at Progressive Field.

Trevor Crowe scored the winning run while Lou Marson produced an RBI double and also scored a run for Cleveland, which finished a six-game homestand with a 3-3 mark.

Hideki Matsui and Mike Napoli both homered for the Angels, who entered this series as winners of four straight games.

Neither starting pitcher factored in the decision, but both performed well and allowed two runs on four hits. Cleveland starter Fausto Carmona lasted seven innings and struck out eight batters, while Ervin Santana, who was seeking his career-high 17th win, pitched eight frames and fanned five.
