Dodgers Release Full 2011 Schedule

Today the Dodgers have announced their preliminary 2011 schedule, which opens at home on Friday, April 1 against the Giants. After the season-opening four-game series with San Francisco, the Dodgers head on the road to face the Rockies, Padres, and Giants. Jackie Robinson Day, on April 15, will be a home game against St. Louis.

The Dodgers will begin the season on a Friday for the first time since April 14, 1978 when they defeated the Atlanta Braves 5-1 and will open the season at home on a Friday for the first time since 2000 when they defeated the Cincinnati Reds 8-1. MLB adopted the recommendation of The Commissioner’s Special Committee for On-Field Matters to begin the regular season earlier and mid-week to avoid playing World Series games in November.

The Dodgers play 15 interleague games next year. The Detroit Tigers visit Dodger Stadium from June 20-22 and the Dodgers play a weekend series at home against the Angels from June 24-26 before visiting Angel Stadium from July 1-3. Los Angeles travels to Chicago to play the White Sox from May 20-22 and to Minnesota to play the Twins from June 28-30. This will be the Dodgers’ first trip to the Twin Cities since 2006 and their first-ever visit to Target Field.

The Dodgers close their season with a six-game road trip to San Diego and Phoenix. The season ends on Wednesday, September 28.
