The Angels July 25 trade for Dan Haren is now complete, as the player to be named later has, in fact, been named. Per Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic:
Dbacks just announced they officially acquired LHP Tyler Skaggs from Angels to complete the Haren deal.
Skaggs, who was ranked by Baseball America as the eighth-best Angels prospect during the offseason, was drafted in the supplemental first round last season, the 40th overall pick of the draft. The 18-year old was 8-4 with a 3.61 ERA in the Class A Midwest League this season.
Skaggs signed with the Angels one year ago today, which is why he wasn’t officially named in the trade, other than as the player to be named later. Drafted players cannot be traded until one year after they sign their first pro contract.
Joe Saunders and Rafael Rodriguez were the other Angels traded for Haren on July 25.
