Hiroki Kuroda Has No-Hitter Against Phillies Through Seven Innings

On a day Manny Ramirez was shipped to the White Sox, and a day in which the McCourt divorce trial began, the Dodgers needed some good news. So far tonight, Hiroki Kuroda has delivered. Kuroda has a no-hitter through seven innings against the Phillies at Dodger Stadium.

The only blemishes for Kuroda tonight have been a hit-by-pitch of Jayson Werth in the second inning and a walk to Carlos Ruiz in the sixth. Through seven innings, Kuroda has six strikeouts and has thrown 83 pitches.

It is the longest a Dodger has carried a no-hitter this season, surpassing the 6 1/3 by Vicente Padilla on August 4 against the Padres.

The last Dodger no-hitter was by Hideo Nomo, who shocked the world by no-hitting the Rockies at Coors Field on September 17, 1996.
