Angels Deal Closer Brian Fuentes To Twins

The Angels have traded their closer to the Twins, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com:

#Angels closer Brian Fuentes claimed by #Twins and traded for player to be named.

Fuentes, in the final year of a two-year, $17.5 million contract, was 4-1 this season with 23 saves and a 3.52 ERA in 39 games for the Angels.

With 37 days remaining in the season, there is approximately $1,819,672 remaining on Fuentes’ $9 million salary this season. Per Cot’s Baseball Contracts, Fuentes also has a vesting option for $9 million in 2011, but that option only vests with 55 games finished this season. Fuentes only has 33 games finished so far this season, so he is extremely unlikely to reach that statistical goal.
