Perhaps inspired by Matt Leinart and Vince Young’s NFL preseason battle earlier this week, USC announced yesterday it would play a home and home series with Texas in 2017 and 2018.
↵The teams will play in Los Angeles on Sept. 16, 2007, and in Texas on Sept. 15, 2008. USC is 4-1 all-time against Texas, with the only loss being perhaps the greatest college football game of all time, the 2006 Rose Bowl and BCS title game, won 41-38 by the Longhorns.
↵↵↵“USC versus Texas is a classic match-up and I’m sure fans from both schools, as well as all college football fans, will look forward to these games with much anticipation,” said Haden. “It’s been a long time since USC has played Texas in the regular season, and of course we all remember how exciting the recent bowl game meeting was between the teams.”

Earlier this offseason, it appeared Texas might be joining the Pac-10, meaning they would play USC even more often, but that speculation never came to pass, as Texas stayed with the Big XII.
