Kwame Brown And Michael Jordan Reunite; I Guess Anything Is Possible

Kwame Brown, who will forever be remembered in Laker lore as the stiff traded for Pau Gasol, has decided to join his former (tor)mentor in Charlotte. The Bobcats, owned by one Michael Jordan, have signed the center to a one-year deal, meaning the two former teammates with the Wizards will reunite after a rocky time the first go around.

Jordan drafted Brown first overall in the 2001 draft, then joined him as a teammate in the next two seasons. According to Sports Illustrated in 2003, as reminded via Twitter by wizznuttz.com, Jordan constantly ridiculed Brown:

A source told SI that Jordan ritually reduced Brown to tears in front of the team.

The obvious Los Angeles version of this kind of a reunion would be Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal teaming up once again, although perhaps they have both gotten over their rocky divorce and subsequent sniping in the years that have passed. Kobe and Shaq were in fact teammates in the 2009 NBA All-Star Game, even sharing co-MVP honors.

What other unlikely Los Angeles reunions are there? I’m guessing Smush Parker is not likely to rejoin the Lakers, at least not while Kobe is still around.

Jose Guillen, who was suspended without pay for the remainder of the 2004 season, including the playoffs, wasn’t pursued by Mike Scioscia and the Angels when placed on waivers earlier this month.

Maybe the most likely shocking reunion might just happen after all, if Paul Kariya does in fact become an Anaheim Duck again.
