Torii Hunter Is Lone Angels All-Star, Jered Weaver Snubbed

The Angels are hosting the All-Star Game this year, and the home fans will have just one player to cheer for, in Torii Hunter.

This is the fourth All-Star Game for Hunter, who is hitting .288 with a .370 on-base percentage and .498 slugging percentage this season. Hunter was voted in as a reserve by players, per Lyle Spencer of MLB.com.

Jered Weaver should have made the team as well, but was snubbed. He is 8-3 with a 2.82 ERA in 17 starts this season, and leads the American League in strikeouts with 124. Last week, Mat Gleason made the case that Weaver should start the game, in his home park.

The All-Star Game has been played in Anaheim on two other occasions, in 1967 and 1989. Other Angels to play an All-Star Game in Anaheim were Jim Fregosi, Jom McGlothlin and Don Mincher in 1967, and Devon White in 1989.
