With news today that Clayton Kershaw has dropped his appeal of his five game suspension, the Dodgers announced his next start will be Sunday, August 1 against the Giants. The Dodgers don’t have an off day between now and their home series against the Nationals, so Kershaw is in line to start August 6 against Washington.
↵That brings us to wonder phenom Stephen Strasburg, who just so happens to be scheduled to start tomorrow. Like the Dodgers, the Nats don’t have a day off between tomorrow and their series in Los Angeles, so with regular rest Strasburg should start Sunday, then Friday, August 6 at Dodger Stadium.
↵You won’t find many pitching matchups better than that, especially featuring two pitchers 22 or younger. Strasburg made his debut on June 8, and since then both he and Kershaw have made nine starts. The tale of the tape:
↵Strasburg: 54 1/3 IP, 5-2, 2.32 ERA, 3 HR, 15 BB, 75 K
Kershaw: 60 IP, 5-2, 2.85 ERA, 4 HR, 14 BB, 58 K
Buy those tickets and set those DVRs, because August 6 at Dodger Stadium is going to be special.
