Angels Land Dan Haren From Diamondbacks

The Angels made a big splash less than one week from the trade deadline, acquiring starting pitcher Dan Haren from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Per the Diamondbacks Twitter feed:

#Dbacks trade RHP Dan Haren to Angels for LHP Joe Saunders, LHP Patrick Corbin, RHP Rafael Rodriguez and player to be named

Haren is 7-8 with a 4.60 ERA for Arizona this season, though his peripheral numbers (3.91 FIP, 3.38 xFIP) are right in line with his career numbers.

Per Cot's Contracts, Haren is owed $12.75 million in both 2011 and 2012, with a $15.5 million club option for 2013, or a $3.5 million buyout. With 70 days remaining this season, the Angels will owe about $3,155,738 of his $8.25 million salary this season.

Saunders was arbitration eligible for the first time this season, and his 2010 salary is $3.7 million. Arizona will be responsible for $1,415,301, meaning the net addition in salary this year for the Angels in this transaction is approximately $1,740,437.
