Cardinals Beat Dodgers 2-0

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) – Skip Schumaker’s run-scoring double in the fourth inning backed Adam Wainwright’s solid performance on the mound, as the St. Louis Cardinals snuck past the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2-0, in a pitchers’ duel at Busch Stadium.

Wainwright (14-5) tossed six scoreless innings to become just the second 14- game winner in the majors this season. Colorado Rockies ace Ubaldo Jimenez leads the big leagues with 15 wins. Wainwright, who gave up five hits, has won four straight starts.

Brendan Ryan drove in the other run for the Cardinals, who have won four in a row and the first three contests of this four-game set.

Hiroki Kuroda (7-8) allowed just one run on four hits in six full frames to take the hard-luck loss. The right-hander also fanned eight batters and walked one in his third straight loss.

The Dodgers, who have lost four of five, were without outfielder Manny Ramirez (right calf) and catcher Russell Martin (left thumb).
