Lakers Forward Thinking With Second Round Picks

New, 1 comment

The Lakers used their second round picks in the NBA Draft to select forwards Devin Ebanks from West Virginia and Derrick Caracter from Texas El Paso.

Ebanks, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound forward, was selected with the 43rd pick.  He averaged 12.0 points and 8.1 rebounds as a sophomore for the Mountaineers, who lost to Duke in the national semifinals.  If Ebanks makes the team, he will join Ron Artest and Lamar Odom as the Laker contingent from Queens, New York:

Caracter, a 6-foot-9, 275-pound power forward, spent his junior season at UTEP after transferring from Louisville.  He was named to the All-Conference USA second team this season after averaging 14.0 points and leading the Miners with 8.1 rebounds per game.

Both Ebanks and Caracter will play for the Lakers' summer league team, which begins play on July 9 in Las Vegas.
