The Dodgers have a few roster decisions to make before tonight. The deadline for major league teams to set their 40-man rosters is tonight at 9 p.m. PST, in preparation for next month's Rule 5 draft. Any player placed on a 40-man roster as of tonight's deadline is ineligible to be selected.
Those who are eligible to be selected in the Rule 5 draft are essentially those drafted and/or signed in 2006 (if 18 years old or younger when signed) and 2007 (if 19 years or older). If a player gets selected in the Rule 5 draft, the selecting team must keep him on their major league roster (or disabled list) all season, or else they must offer him back to the original team after clearing waivers. Carlos Monasterios was a 2009 Rule 5 pick from the Phillies (via the Mets, in a trade) who stuck with the Dodgers all season in 2010.
The current Dodgers 40-man roster has 35 players:

Earlier this month on True Blue LA, Brandon Lennox analyzed the Dodgers minor leagues, and identified Justin Miller, a 2007 draftee, as the only must add. Miller is a 23-year old reliever, not to be confused with the 33-year old reliever of the same name who pitched for the Dodgers in 2010 and signed with Seattle earlier this week. Lennox listed the following players as possible additions to the Dodgers 40-man roster:
-
James Adkins P
- Josh Wall P

Scott Van Slyke OF
- Alfredo Silverio OF
- Matt Wallach C
- Jaime Pedroza IF
- Tim Sexton P
