College Football Bowl Projections: Pac-10 Could Find Slim Pickings

The Pac-10 conference has a shot to get two teams in BCS bowls for just the third time in 13 years, but aside from that may only have one or two more bowl-eligible teams. Oregon and Stanford both survived road scares on Saturday night, but the rest of the conference has a tough road ahead of them. Here is a look at the current bowl projections for the Pac-10.

Oregon Ducks (10-0, 7-0 in Pac-10)

Projection: BCS National Title Game

Remaining Games: Arizona, at Oregon State

The top-ranked Ducks simply need to win their final two games, and they will play for the national title in Glendale, Arizona. There is a chance they will slip below Auburn, but if they win out they shouldn't slip lower than number two.

Stanford Cardinal (9-1, 6-1)

Projection: Orange Bowl

Remaining Games: at California, Oregon State

Stanford got a tough road win at Arizona State, but are predicted to remain at sixth in tomorrow's BCS standings by the SB Nation blog BCS Evolution. If the Ducks make the title game, the Rose Bowl will get a replacement pick, but must choose an automatic qualifier from a non-BCS conference, so TCU or Boise State figures to get the call here. In reality, Stanford could lose out to either one-loss LSU or the non-Big-Ten winner of Ohio State and Wisconsin. Arkansas can help everybody out here during Thanksgiving weekend by taking out LSU.

Arizona Wildcats (7-3, 4-3)

Projection: Alamo Bowl

Remaining Games: at Oregon, Arizona State

The Alamo Bowl pits the second-place team in the Pac-10 with the third-place team in the Big XII, so if Stanford makes a BCS bowl, look for Arizona to slide right up.

USC Trojans (7-3, 4-3)

Bowl ineligible this season

California Golden Bears (5-5, 3-4)

Projection: Holiday Bowl

Remaining Games: Stanford, Washington

The Bears nearly punched their ticket with an upset of the top-ranked Ducks on Saturday, but ultimately lost 15-13. Cal needs to win just one of their final two games to become bowl eligible. If they beat Stanford, slide Cal down to the Sun Bowl, which takes the fourth-place team in the conference (the Holiday Bowl takes the third-place squad).

Oregon State (4-5, 3-3)

Projection: outside looking in

Remaining Games: USC, at Stanford, Oregon

The Beavers really shot themselves in the foot Saturday with a stunning 31-14 loss to the lowly Washington State Cougars. Now, to get the six wins they need to become bowl eligible, the Beavers have to run the gauntlet against the three best teams in the conference, and win two of them. It won't happen. If the Beavers do somehow win two of their last three, look for the Holiday or Sun Bowls to come calling.

UCLA Bruins (4-5, 2-4)

Projection: outside looking in

Remaining Games: at Washington, at Arizona State, USC

The Bruins need two wins to become bowl-eligible, but will likely be an underdog in all three of their remaining games.

Washington Huskies (3-6, 2-4)

Projection: outside looking in

Remaining Games: UCLA, at Cal, Washington State

Washington needs to win their remaining three games, which seems like a tall order, especially with that November 27 road game at Berkeley.

Arizona State Sun Devils (4-6, 2-5)

Already eliminated. The Sun Devils have two wins against FCS teams, so it would need seven wins to become bowl-eligible. The Sun Devils only have two games remaining.

Washington State Cougars (2-9, 1-7)

Already eliminated
