The Lakers are in Barcelona to play Pau Gasol's former team, Regal FC Barcelona, in their second and final game in Europe this preseason, at Palau Sant Jordi, in a game featuring the 2010 NBA champions and 2010 Euroleague champions.
The Lakers have played Regal FC Barcelona once before, beating them 108-104 October 18, 2008 at Staples Center. Gasol, who played for FC Barcelona from 1999-2001, scored 13 points against his former team in that game.
Kobe Bryant, who played just six minutes in the Lakers' preseason opener Monday in London, is expected to play similar minutes today against... Per Mike Trudell of NBA.com, Bryant said he was easing his way back in the preseason:
"I’m not healthy," he explained. "I would be more motivated if it were right after the NBA season and this was a series we were playing against the champions of Europe … to determine who the best was in the world. Then I’d be really motivated. But right now I’m still trying to get back in shape, and guys aren’t going to play that many minutes, so it’s a little different from a real series."
In the Lakers' opening preseason game Monday, a 111-92 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Lamar Odom led the team with 17 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Shannon Brown added 13 points, and Derek Fisher scored 12 for the Lakers.
The game will be televised live on NBA TV at 11:30 a.m., and on tape delay on KCAL at 7 p.m. PDT.
After today's game, the Lakers return home, with their next preseason game coming on Wednesday, October 13 against the Sacramento Kings.
