Angels Finish Out Season Against Rangers

(Sports Network) - If the Texas Rangers are going to make some noise this postseason they are going to need American League MVP candidate Josh Hamilton to be firing on all cylinders.

Hamilton is expected to be in the lineup for a third straight game this afternoon when Texas wraps up its regular season with the finale of a four- game set against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

After missing most of September with fractured ribs, Hamilton returned to the lineup on Friday and made a pair of spectacular catches in center field. On Saturday, he belted a two-run homer and added a sacrifice fly to help the AL West champions to a 6-2 win.

"I felt good. I felt calm," said Hamilton, who is expected to play in left field this afternoon. "The result was there tonight."

Hamilton continues to pace the American League with a .360 average and also has 32 home runs and 100 RBI.

Michael Young collected three hits and knocked in a run for the Rangers. C.J. Wilson (15-8), who went 0-3 with a 6.26 ERA in five September starts, gave up two runs on four hits over five innings to grab the win.

Neftali Feliz also picked up his 40th save of the season.

Torii Hunter and Howie Kendrick each hit RBI singles in the first inning for the Angels (79-82), who will finish below .500 for the first time since 2003.

Ervin Santana (17-10) allowed five runs on nine hits and three walks in 6 1/3 innings to take the loss.

Hoping to pitch the Rangers to a series win this afternoon will be righty Colby Lewis, who has won three of his last four starts after losing seven straight decisions.

Lewis, who will pitch in Game 3 of the ALDS, beat the Oakland Athletics last Sunday, holding them to a run and six hits in six innings. He is 12-13 on the year with a 3.72 ERA.

Anaheim, meanwhile, will counter with righty Dan Haren, who is 4-4 with a 2.86 ERA since being acquired from Arizona. Haren won his third consecutive decision on Tuesday against Oakland, as he surrendered two runs and six hits in six innings.

Haren, who will top his career-high in innings pitched (229 1/3) with this afternoon's start, has faced the Rangers 12 times and is 3-6 with a 3.65 ERA.

The Rangers have won 10 of 18 matchups with Anaheim this season, including a 7-2 ledger in the Lone Star State.
