College Football Rankings Week 9: USC Poised To Rejoin Top 25, Face No. 1 Oregon

The USC Trojans were off this weekend, but thanks to some losses by teams ranked in the Associated Press Top 25, the Trojans look poised to rejoin the top 25. This will make Saturday's showdown against Oregon a showdown of ranked teams, as the Ducks just might overtake the top spot in the latest BCS poll.

USC finished five votes shy of the top 25 in last week's AP poll. Here's a look at AP top 25 teams that lost in a wild Saturday of college football:

  • No. 3 Ohlahoma lost to No. 18 Missouri
  • No. 6 LSU lost to No. 5 Auburn
  • No. 13 Iowa lost at home to No. 10 Wisconsin
  • No. 17 Oklahoma St lost at home to No. 14 Nebraska
  • No. 20 West Virginia lost to unranked Syracuse
  • No. 22 Texas lost at home to unranked Iowa St

That's two teams of the 25 teams ahead of USC lost to unranked teams. Look for USC to end up ranked number 24 at worst in tomorrow's AP poll. Because it is on NCAA probation, USC is not eligible for the USA Today coaches poll.
