The Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz do battle in the first game of the Staples Center shootout today, in a 4:30 p.m. game today. The Lakers and Nuggets will face off in the second game of the shootout, tonight. On Sunday, today's two winners play each other and the two losers play each other, with the Lakers' game at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night regardless of today's outcome.
Although the Clippers are just 1-4 this preseason, a bright spot has been Blake Griffin. The rookie-of-the-year candidate has averaged 17.4 points and 12.0 rebounds in just 28.4 minutes per game this preseason while shooting 62.7% from the field.
The Clippers lost three of four games last regular season to the Jazz. They have lost 14 straight games, and a whopping 40 of their last 42 games in Utah, dating back to 1989. Luckily tonight's preseason contest is in Los Angeles. The Clippers are 42-35 all-time against the Jazz at home.
The Jazz are 4-0 this preseason, the first time they have begun a preseason 4-0 since 1976-1977, when the team was in New Orleans.
Tonight and tomorrow mark the second of two sets of back-to-back games this preseason for the Clippers.
Tonight's game will not be televised, but is available on radio on KFWB 980.
