USC Football: LB Simione Vehikite Back On Scholarship

Stay connected for news and updates

The USC Trojans regained one of their more experienced linebackers this week, in a pickup which could be big down the road. Simione Vehikite, who spent the last few months in jail, practiced for the first time on Thursday and was given his scholarship back. He is expected to serve as a backup linebacker until he can get back into the swing of things at game speed.

Vehikite was originally sentenced to a year in prison for leaving the scene of a car accident and driving with an elevated blood-alcohol level. He served a little more than three months before being released.

Head coach Lane Kiffin has not really gone into detail about how Vehikite's return will impact the scholarship situation at USC.

As for this weekend's matchup with Hawaii, it would seem unlikely that Vehikite will see any playing time.
