The worst season in USC Trojans basketball history continued Saturday night. The Trojans were close but just not good enough, falling 56-52 to the Arizona State Sun Devils at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe. With the loss, USC (6-23, 1-15) has the most losses in one season in school history, and they finished their Pac-12 Conference road slate winless at 0-9.
Byron Wesley scored a career high 22 points in defeat for the Trojans to go along with seven rebounds, but it wasn't enough for USC, which lost its seventh consecutive contest. Maurice Jones added 12 points for USC, making four three-pointers.
Jordan Bachynski led the Sun Devils (9-20, 5-12) with 19 points and nine rebounds. Trent Lockett added 11 points and four rebounds for Arizona State, which shot 46.2% from the field. The Sun Devils made five of 10 three-point shots in the game.
The Trojans at 6-23 have the second-worst winning percentage (.207) in school history, trailing only the 0-2 season in 1917-1918 during World War I. USC ends their regular season with two home games against the Washington schools, hosting the Washington Huskies on Thursday night at Galen Center.
