Tee Martin led the Tennesee Volunteers to a national title in 1998.
USC Trojan receiver coach Tee Martin was visiting with new Tennessee Volunteers coach Butch Jones on Monday, the L.A. Times reported.
Martin attended the University of Tennessee and is one of the school's more famous quarterbacks in recent memory.
In his first two years, he was the backup to Peyton Manning. After Manning left, Martin led the Vols to a 13-0 record in 1998 and a victory over Florida State in the Fiesta Bowl, giving the team its first national title since 1951.
His history there means it's no surprise that Coach Jones came calling after being hired last week.
The Trojans have had some high turnover at the receiver coach position. Martin is their third receiver coach in three years, with John Morton joining Jim Harbaugh's San Francisco 49ers and Ted Gilmore taking a job with the Oakland Raiders.
Martin had a short NFL career before retiring in 2004. He started coaching at the collegiate level in 2009.
