The pair of Trojans landed on the list of Pac-12 athletes who carry at least a 3.0 grade-point average and are a starter or significant contributor.
USC Trojans quarterback Matt Barkley and offensive lineman Khaled Holmes were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic team on Tuesday.
Barkley, a senior Communication major, carried a 3.21 grade-point average and was named to the All-Academic second team. The 22-year-old will miss the Trojans' regular-season finale against the No. 1 Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday after injuring his shoulder in the team's 38-28 loss to the UCLA Bruins. In 11 games in 2012, Barkley has thrown for 3,273 yards, 36 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
Holmes, also a senior Communication major, posted a 3.31 GPA and landed on the All-Academic first team. He has been a three-year starter for the Trojans -- two years as the starting center -- and is a nominee for the Rimington award, an accolade given to the top center in the country each year. The 22-year-old was named to the All-Pac-12 second team following his junior year.
