The No. 4 Oregon Ducks defeated the No. 17 USC Trojans by the score of 62-51 at the Los Angeles Coliseum in a high scoring and equally-entertaining affair on Saturday.
With the victory, Oregon remained undefeated and did so behind their dynamic and quick strike offense, led by freshman quarterback Marcus Mariota and senior running back Kenjon Barner.
Their offense was simply overwhelming for the Trojans on Saturday night, evident with 62 points and 732 yards of total offense. The 62 points were the most any opponent has ever scored against USC, in the history of the school.
Oregon saw a pair of big leads disappear against the Trojans, giving them a few scares, but ultimately the Ducks would not be contained, let alone stopped, on offense. The attack was firing on all cylinders, whether it was on the ground or through the air.
While the two quarterbacks in the game combined for a staggering 789 yards through the air and 9 passing touchdowns, star running back Kenjon Barner stole the show. The Riverside product rushed for 321 yards, good for a conference record, while scoring five touchdowns.
USC's Matt Barkley played well, passing for five touchdowns and 484 yards, including a pair of one-play touchdown drives to keep the Trojans within reach of Oregon.
Box Score Hero: There's no contest here, as Kenjon Barner broke the Pac-12 conference rushing record with 321 rushing yards while taking it in for five touchdowns.
Rankings Ramifications: The No. 4 Ducks certainly shouldn't fall in the BCS rankings after such a dominant performance, and depending on the Alabama/LSU game, could move up. The No. 17 Trojans may drop out of the Top 20, though it certainly wasn't a "bad loss" for USC.
But Did They Cover? Oregon easily covered the opening 6-point spread, winning by 17 points on the road.

The USC Trojans have kept up, but have not cut into their deficit as they trail the Oregon Ducks, 48-38, after three quarters at the L.A. Coliseum on Saturday.
After giving up a 13-play touchdown drive to Oregon, the Trojans were in business thanks to all-world receiver Marqise Lee. With the help of solid blocking, Lee returned a kickoff 82 yards to set up USC at Oregon's 16-yard line. Five plays later, Silas Redd ran in a three-yard touchdown to make it a 41-38 game.
Lee also has 134 receiving yards on the day.
But the closed gap didn't last long. After three runs from Kenjon Barner that totaled 38 yards, Marcus Mariota connected with Josh Huff for a 36-yard touchdown pass to regain its ten-point cushion.
USC opened the second half with an 11-play, five-minute drive that was capped by a Redd two-yard touchdown run which made the score 34-31.
The third quarter closed with Oregon having totaled 614 yards, while USC has 492.

The Oregon Ducks are firing on all cylinders, but a couple of home-run plays have kept the USC Trojans in the game, as the Trojans trail, 34-24, at halftime.
Believe it or not, points were left on the field late in the half. With the score at 34-24 and just more than two minutes left, Oregon marched deep into USC territory, but quarterback Marcus Mariota fumbled at the Trojan 15-yard line. USC turned that around into a quick drive of its own, but receiver Marqise Lee fumbled at Oregon's 15-yard line.
Kenjon Barner has tallied 169 rushing yards for Oregon, including two touchdown runs in the second quarter. With five minutes left in the second quarter, Mariota completed one of his three touchdown passes to Daryle Hawkins to put the Ducks up, 34-17.
But USC would respond as Matt Barkley hit Nelson Agholor on a 76-yard touchdown bomb to cut the deficit to the 34-24 halftime margin. It was the second deep score of the frame, as Barkley also completed a 75-yard touchdown pass to Lee for the Trojans' first touchdown of the game.
Barkley is 17-26 for 303 yards and three touchdowns, with both Lee and Agholor over 100 receiving yards on the day. The teams have combined for 864 yards through two quarters.

The USC Trojans have fallen behind the Oregon Ducks, 14-3, after the first quarter of play at the L.A. Coliseum on Saturday evening.
Oregon struck quickly to open the game, moving the ball 75 yards in one minute as Marcus Mariota completed 4-4 passes for 68 yards. The Ducks finished the drive when De'Anthony Thomas scored on a 16-yard touchdown pass.
The Ducks scored again with just less than five minutes left in the quarter when Mariota hit Josh Huff on a 21-yard touchdown pass to cap another 75-yard drive.
USC's only response came midway through the quarter. Matt Barkley led the Trojans on a 12-play, 66-yard drive, but couldn't find the end zone. Andre Heidari put through a 39-yard field goal to finish the drive.
Oregon racked up 203 yards of offense in the first frame, with Mariota going a perfect 7-for-7 for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Barkley was 8-of-12 for 83 yards and an interception. The first quarter ended with Oregon at USC's 15-yard line.

The Pac-12 has spoken: the days of the USC Trojans dominating the conference have returned.
During the Pac-12 media day on Tuesday, the preseason poll released by members of the media who cover the league was released with the Trojans as the overwhelming favorite to win the league championship, according to The Los Angeles Times' Baxter Holmes.
The Trojans received 117 out of 123 first-place votes to win the South Division, then secured 102 votes to Oregon's 18 to win the Pac-12 title game to be held on Nov. 30.
Utah, Arizona State and UCLA were the only other teams to earn first-place votes to win the South Division, even though the Sun Devils were picked to finish fifth overall out of six teams. Oregon secured 117 first-place votes to Stanford's five and Cal's one in the North Division.
